Morning all, last year I had my front discs and pads changed, there was an issue with the caliber so the car was jacked up for a week or so until I fixed the caliper. After I got the car back the dreaded lights came on.... but after a few days driving and the car not being jacked up on an angle the lights went off. I used to leave the 996 at my moms but this year I have left it on my heavily slopes drive, and hey presto the lights have come on again! Are they somehow linked to the car being on an angle for extended periods of time?[/list]

Don't know exact answer, but, last trip to the 'Ring, in the wet, on several laps, my ABS and then PSM threw up errors as the car came up out of the concrete banking on Karrussel.

Each time it said "ABS error" and then, when I'd 'okayed' that on the trip computer, it then said "PSM off". It all re-set fine after each occasion.

My thinking was slippy conditions and unweighted wheels - front offside, then rear nearside - exiting the banking was the cause, but I don't know for sure whether the tilt/gradient played a part.

I had the same thing. Did a bit of googling and the most likely candidate is the brake switch at the brake peddle (the button that activates the brake lights/turns off cruise control). I changed it out but didn't solve it. Put it on the fault code reader and it showed up as the brake switch again, did a bit more research and turns out it's a common fault, not the switch but the cables going to the switch wear out behind the dash/bulkhead. I would start there.

FWIW, I had both lights. Flagged up on computer as brake light switch.

Changed it and it STILL kept firing these errors. F&^K.

Lived with it for a while, and had a brain-wave when I realised that my brake lights weren't working properly (oops, and sorry to all those who got caught out behind me!).

Changed the switch AGAIN, and all was good. Therefore, dodgy NEW brakelight switch.

Takes 15 mins to do. 14.9 seconds breaking your arm to gain the correct access...... p1ss easy.

Took the car to my local specialist (Ramus) to have new back brakes fitted, they changed the brake pedal sensor and topped the fluid up, so far so good the errors have not appeared again... yet!
