Looking at a 997.1TT tomorrow and need build sheet

997 actuators are internal I thought? If the arm wont move then something inside is rusted or jammed and will need a refurb. AET turbos told me they can do this for about £600 each side. The turbos are a different kettle of fish to the 996; an expensive kettle

When did that car last have a service then??

After speaking again with Porsche in more detail, they conceded that the actuators could very well be fine if the car is used again more regularly. Apparently this is a common issue and they ultimately advised replacement MIGHT not be needed at all. Overall, he said they are super conservative and highlight anything and everything, assuming the worst for each (for example, the corrosion on the pump valve cover could just be on the case itself and not inside, in which case it's purely cosmetic -- yet they recommended full replacement). He reiterated his opinion that I should not be put off by the findings as this is one of the cleanest and most well-preserved cars of this vintage he has seen. By the way, none of the expensive items highlighted were 111 fails and thus even if I get a Porsche warranty he said these items wouldn't be covered as they are classified as wear and tear, not mechanical failure.

In any event, where I got to with the seller is a further price reduction of several grand. My plan is to get the car and then choose a renowned Porsche specialist (i.e. not Porsche themselves) to take a look and tell me what the car really needs vs. the Porsche "doomsday" list. I suspect even if they came to the conclusion all of those items do need to happen, it will be significantly less than the £8k Porsche would have charged me. If the price reduction covers it all, great, and if not, so be it.

Sounds sensible, best of luck :) Do you know which specialist you'll take it to?

Thank you! In regards to specialists, no idea yet. If folks have any recommendations in the (West) London area I would be very grateful to get some tips.

Good luck remember and get some pics up when it arrives :thumb:
