Yes I know, an old debate!

Trying to decide between fitting cup 1 17s vs MY02 18's - would really like to hear from those that have put on a few miles on both 17 & 18's on road.

Firstly Porsche do not recommend running 18" on a 964.

However I have run 16" Cups, 17" Cup 2, and now have 18" Ruf Speedlins.

My car is lowered and has a stiffer suspension set up.

Conclusion

1) 18" do work, and work very well. They are however tire sensitive -dunlops were rubbish, PZeros are a lot better.

2) the ride quality suffers. If you want comfort and refinement stick with the 16 or 17 with a nice high tire profile. If you like are more engaging experience and the ability to count each ant you run over then go 18"

3) running 18" I did find it tended to oversteer a bit for some reason, but I think that's more to do with the geo on the suspension and the tires. The PZeros seem to have corrected that quite a bit, but it could be better.

So it depends on the ride height you are looking for, the suspension set up, your tire choice, how you intend to use the car and your personal preference :D :D

I had 18" on my 964 and following Porsche specialist advice and quite a harsh ride am looking for 17" instead.

Ive had both , 18s look better but are absolutely terrible to drive!! , 17s drive great and look fine with spacers fitted , think my spacers are 10mm rear (bolt on) and about 6mm "shims" front.

I am going to give the 18's a try, do have a set of cup1's on standby so let's see how it works out.
