UPDATE:
I received an email yesterday from Euro Car Parts. Not what I was expecting as after dealing with DANSK, 9apart & Euro Car Parts, who all failed to resolve the issue I had, I'd come round to the fact customer care wasn't high on their agenda and the car needed fixing.
Firstly, I was surprised to be informed that Stainless Steel DANSK exhaust products carry a
5 year warranty in the same ownership
Secondly, that 9Apart have basically lied to me in their email sent to me when I contacted them about the issue, stating that the warranty was only 12 months.
Thirdly, they notice from my photo the flexipipe has made contact with something and raises the question of whether there was a fitment issue and installation was incorrect.
Fourthly, they would like to get some amicable resolution to my problem.
Fifthly, I would remove my post simply because of the warranty inaccuracy, and the incorrect information I had been advised by 9Apart.
So without hesitation......and that euphoric feeling that somebody was actually there to help me......I picked up the phone to call them.
After a decent phone call with their Porsche Parts Marque Manager, he filled me in on what had gone wrong and where I'd been let down, etc. and also explained some of the issues and clauses within the warranty:
The boxes were covered for 5 years, providing the car belonged to me when fit. Seeing as the dealer I purchased the car from after I'd paid the deposit on it and haggled they fit new back boxes on the car as part of the purchase fit them, it could be argued I wasn't the original owner of them.
Looking at the photo, there could have been a fitment issue (as seen on the flexipipe - small dings) which may raise the question could that have created the flexipipe to rust and split at the other end.
As the boxes were purchased from 9Apart, it would be more difficult for Euro Car Parts to progress a claim, unlike if they were purchased direct from ECP themselves (worth noting for any future purchases).
At the end of the conversation, I was assured ECP would do their best to come up with a solution that would leave me a satisfied customer and would call me back within the hour with a way forward to resolving the issue.
2.5 hours later the phone rings. Eager to hear the response from them I quickly answered. The original person I dealt with back in February called me with a couple of options they thought would resolve my problem:
1. The original discounted offer of £528 for DANSK sport boxes with a 5 year warranty.
or
2. An even more discounted offer (about triple what it'll cost me to have decent flexis welded on) for DANSK sport boxes with no warranty whatsoever.
Decisions, decisions.
I was asked if I'd like some time to think about my options, so I did.......for 5 seconds. Option 1 and possibly be faced with the same manufacturing defect issue again but with a warranty. Option 2 and possibly be faced with the same manufacturing defect issue again but without a warranty. Option 3 and hope the boxes last as long as the new flexis.
Even the guy at ECP saw the logic.
I really didn't want to write this post tonight (especially as it's my 10,00th post on here) but now feel even more let down finding out that I'd been lied to by 9 Apart & even though my back boxes were still under warranty, there wasn't a replacement set being offered to me FOC. I know I could revisit 9 Apart and start the whole process again but I really can't be bothered with the headache. My car's now with my mechanic being repaired and hopefully improved over the poor quality flexipipe DANSK originally fitted.
It's a bit P*** Poor when you've to go on the internet and voice your experience because you're that naffed off with the way things have been handled, but if it helps other people in their decision making when spending their hard earned money on their Pride & Joy, then at least I've done my bit to the Porsche society.
