Newcomer and looking to purchase my dream car

what do you expect for 35k - a nice colour and a nice interior.....not likely :?

With a rising market then I fear you are right. I just could not live with any of the beige type interiors and would go for a higher mileage car in an acceptable colour scheme.

its quite amazing the way porsche colour code everything and the effect it has...i also couldn't enjoy driving in that colour environment

oof, that interior!

I do wonder what people were taking when they specced some of these interiors. Ok, if you want sand, or metropole or that crazy green colour, but not on the dash and steering wheel. Numpties! :dont know:

:frustrated:

I met a chap in an Asda car park last summer who was driving an immaculate 997.2T in basalt. I mooched over for a natter and he was almost appologetic for his full sand interior. I walked away almost feeling sorry for him.

It says something when there is a chap on this forum replacing the whole his interior as he cant live with the colour.

Each to their own but anything other than black or stone would leave me struggling to hand over the redies no matter how lovely the rest of the car may be.

Love my black, just timeless, but really love the dark brown cocoa leather.

When and if I buy a new 911 and spec it, it will be dark red metallic with that brown leather interior :)

I just found a great car on Auto Trader:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201610289218772

Does it need to be a cab?

owwww thats only in Poole :thumb: might have to drive by tommorrow

Went to look at this car today, my impressions without driving it are
Its in good condition but does need a bonnet respray as there is a big stone chip blister in the middle, the guy asked me if he should get it done and I said no as most guys will want to see it original and a recent respray might indicate to them its been in a smash whereas if they see it as is then negotiate a respray they would be more confident or they might choose to use there trusted bodyshop themselves. as we all know what a traders respray is like v our own trusted guys.
It also needs a really good detail both inside and out to get that deep red shine back and the Black leather looking fresh .
Overall its a tidy car ,it has the sunroof delete which imo is good, it has sport chrono with sport plus, hardback sport seats , MF steering wheel. I dont like the alloys on it but that's easy to sort. so IMO a decent gen2 car with 44k miles full Porsche service history and I recon you could get it for 34k with some haggling, it has just been reduced from £39.950. The Guy is aware that as a non porsche specialist he cant get top dollar for it but had some other nice cars there. He seemed keen to try and do a deal and wanted my car lol.
This is my view without driving the car and I would recommend as with any purchase a PPI prior to parting with the cash. Hope this helps anyone looking to get a nice 3.6 gen2 and worth being added to their list for consideration .

I also can give anyone out of the area the number of a good Porsche tech who could do a full PPI borescope etc etc on the car and report back to them.

I should also note I have nothing to do with the car or dealer and was in the area so went to look at it as it had been discussed on here yesterday. :thumb: :thumb:

Wow Phil that's what I call help. My head is all over the place with all the extra info I've learned over the last few days. I've always wanted a cab so I think for my first 911 it would have to be that or it would always be a case of what if. I got a video and a full history of the car in the first link and it looks good but it's missing the extras that you mentioned and I think with the price being at the top of my budget it doesn't leave much room for the improvements that would be needed. I think the search continues.

I'm currently working out in Kazakhstan and I thought I knew what I wanted and I would be able to buy without seeing it and just get a PPI done. The closer I'm getting and all the info you lot have given has showed me that I need to see as many as I possibly can. Bring on the 2 weeks when I'm home

The info you guys have given me is unreal especially with me being a newbie so I can only thank you all

Stone chips will almost always mean a bonnet and front bumper have been done, and a front wing is pretty minor. Still, plenty of better priced cars out there.

From the pictures of the first car it appears they are dealing from a church so at least you know they will be honest?

Or they have a loose grip on reality...

MC

Maybe god will be looking down on me if I bought that one

God would tell you to go for a Turbo S .......!😎😎😎😎
