MaxA's ''Mr White'' long termer

My new Ultraleggera's finally showed up - they're looking good. I've dropped them off for a bit of ceramic coating (the super-hard grade 70 stuff from Feynlab) and will get them mounted with the Michelin's asap. I hope the TPMS valves are transferable, or I may need some new ones.

The replacement discs also showed up: you're left in no doubt that a 997 is running some serious brakes as each 330mm discs weighs around 22-23kg, even drilled... the rears are narrower than the fronts, but still chunky. Funnily enough Design 911 delivered 2x front Pagids (in grey) and 2x rear Brembos (in black). They make the OZs feel featherweight. They'll be installed with a set of Pagid RS29 pads all round, and some stainless steel Goodridge brake lines, with fresh fluid all round. The car needs a bit of a shove to come to a halt nowadays.

And I can really see the logic behind two piece discs, or even ceramics. A 45kg box of these in the front end seriously reduces lift...

In the meantime, the car's going back to the garage to investigate an odd squeaking and squealing from the rear. It's become a bit louder and is now officially a worry.

:nooo:

The car has been fixed under the extended warranty from ARM: it seemed to be one of the aux belt pulleys/belt tensioner. I was getting worried...

I'm still away at the moment (up in Finnish Lapland with aching legs, massive calves, big bags full of ski boots and skis, and nothing at all to drive), but the car's looking good - apparently. My brother was out and about giving it some exercise and some bloke just walked up and asked if the car was 'available for sale'. Which it isn't...

Car looks great with those wheels :thumb: I'm currently dithering over buying a set of Leggera HLT's but those Superleggera's are making me think again :? Are they 19's or 20's?

....did the wheels accept the TPMS sensors ok? Also, I love the dished look to the rear wheels, is this a function of the width/offset? Can't find details on the Oz website!!

Hi Rob

These are 19" OZ Racing Ultraleggera's (they haven't made Superleggera's for many years). I dithered about Allegeritas but I read on the US forums that the spokes have cracked on some of the race cars...

I don't recall the offsets just now, but they're pretty close to stock. The rears are actually 11x19 which is half an inch narrower than the 11.5x19 Carrera Sports I was running before, but I'm still running the 12mm TPI mag-alloy spacers. The TPMS sensors were simply swapped over, not an issue at all.

I'm pretty happy with these, even if the matt grey doesn't quite match the black side stripes... and most importantly they are seriously lightweight compared to the OEM rims, and the car feels a just a little less podgy, if you see what I mean. 8)

Thanks Max, sorry I meant Ultraleggera's! The wheels look great and the matte black suits the white car really well. Good to know the TPMS sensors can be swapped over easily :thumb:

They are good rim protector tyres, what brand/model are they?

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 N2 235/35 R19 87Y and 305/30 R19 102Y

I ordered 2x OZ Racing Ultraleggera 8.5x19 ET53 and 2x 11x19 wheels ET50 (i.e. close to/at stock fitment). But I'm running them with 12mm spacers. I think I'll test fit the 7mm shims on the front to see how they look, as the front track looks a bit too wide to me. On the other hand, I do want a realignment and to add more more negative camber at the front (which would bring the tops in): those new PS2s are pretty scrubbed on the outside. Bear in mind, I have the widebody C4S.

I think the 'dished look' is just the way the spokes reach to the end of the rim, unlike, for example, the Allegerita's.
