Hi,

My 2003 996 (82k miles) just pinged me with the amber (not flashing) engine warning light, car seems to be running OK and is safely back home and resting. Before I undertake the walk of shame (I have no code reader) later in the week any ideas on the most common causes so I can brace myself? I'm aware of the fuel cap issue and that it can be an emission related or cat problem or some fuel system thing (lean running etc.). So what's the most likely in the forum's opinion?

Ta!

If the car is running ok with no obvious misfire then i would lean towards it being a lambda sensor fault .. possibly an ageing issue ( one switches faster than the other ) .

Thanks, I'm kinda hoping it's that simple...any other possibilities?
