996 Turbo Hollow Spoke - Paint Code

Evening All,

I'm having the wheels on the turbo re-finished (after the paint shop painted them in noticeably the wrong silver).

I've tried a search online, but don't seem to be getting a definitive answer.

What is the Standard Silver (not GT Silver) paint code and finish (metallic/gloss?) on a 996 turbo hollow spoke alloy??

I popped into my local OPC today who I have used for work before, but they didn't seem to helpful (probably as I'm having the wheels done elsewhere!)

Both myself and the paint shop are struggling to find the correct information and we would like to get it right this time around.

Many thanks in advance!

9A1 is porsche wheel silver from 1997 onwards. Test a bit first though.

Maybe an email to Chris at Exel wheels would confirm 100%. You aren't getting them done there but he's a nice chap and is helpful enough on the forums.

Cheers.
Whilst 9A1 is the Porsche specific code, how do independent paint shops mix a paint that is a match to Porsche's' code?
Just out of interest now really (and I suppose to be sure this time around)...

...perhaps this is where a wheel specialist can chime in on the issue... :)

My understanding is that paint shops will mix the paint to match your car or other wheels. For myriad reasons, your car may be different from the colour as specified.

...only thing is, my wheels were very poorly finished in the first instance (so wouldn't be worthwhile to colour match to existing...

Hence the question on how paint shops mix/apply paint to manufacturer specific codes.

I.e is there an Industry Standard 'translation' of the Porsche code into a 'generic' code that independent paint shops use to paint to OEM colour/finish?
