Many amplifiers have both line level and speaker level inputs. It could therefore be that you do not need any level converter at all.

You could connect two amps to the line level outputs of a LOC, the normal speaker and subwoofer amp in parallel. However, you would then need to have a sub with four inputs (L/R-front/rear) and level control to get proper sound.
The most common thing is to connect a subwoofer amp to a separate mono output on the head unit. The head unit then contains a summing circuit with separate level adjustment, ensuring a proper woofer output independently of the fader and L/R setting.

In general, I would recommend a more sophisticated head unit if you need a subwoofer setup. The Continetal units are, combined with my harnesses a very nice plug and play solution for classic Porsche cars, using the original speaker setup.
