As in the title, could anyone direct me to good all round DIagnostic machine that covers more than just Porsche, all for a reasonable price.
Ive been looking and they seam to go from £9.99 £3K??? Wow!
So what is best for odd use diy?

You've 2 options:

1. A generic one that does all cars but is limited with Porsche.

or

2. A Porsche specific one that does a lot more but can't be used with anything else.

Which do you want?
 
I bought the diagnostic lead from Tore B , once plugged into your laptop it gives plenty of access to what's going on in the car.

Great on a 993 but I have a 996 and this is not suitable for 996 or much else really :?

So, anyone out there recommend a code reader that covers most cars and porsche 996 what do these 'german car specialists' use that cover Porsche, audi, VW etc. ?

It depends on what you want to look at really :dont know:

I have an ELM 237 bluetooth OBDII reader and Torque app on my laptop to look at engine problems, cost £3 on Ebay, car non-specific, and can reset EML faults with a click of the mouse.

I also have an iCarsoft i960 Porsche specific plug-in OBDII full diagnostic tool for other issues, cost around £50 :thumb:
