What happened?

Sorry for the late reply and sorry for any spelling mistakes :)

Well there are a few things that has happened but it seem like all they want is your money money money.

Bought a Porsche 996 full history ect etc New MOT from a specialist in London and being 2002 i thought get an inspection on the car as there where a few little niggles on the 240 mile journey home and get them sorted via warranty.

Abs and PSM light kept coming on when accelerating so wanted that diagnosed also.

£82 for an inspection brought up faults which is fair enough, Heavy clutch, under tray cracked, some little bits but i needed complete brake pipe over haul, O/S Rear wheel bearing and front top mounts which i agreed with the top mounts. (creaking) and the ABS/PSM light is my clutch slipping ????????

Spoke to the Garage yes get it sorted they will pay. Cant fault them.

Brake pipes looked ok for a 2002 car to me and the brake where bloody amazing but specialist garage they know more so had complete new pipes, Wheel bearing i was 100% it was not rear so told them to take it out again as im 99% sure its N/S front. And the top mounts all sorted.

Picked car up with no creaking - Great - but now there is a knocking noise from the O/S suspesion area, New brake pipes Brakes now terrible and spongy and the wheel bearing still making a noise. (no difference) and a £1600 repair bill. and still ABS/PCM light.

Found out they changed the O/S front wheel bearing??? and also i needed a new hub as the bolts snapped off but hey we have a 2nd hand one here for £200. hmmmmmm

That was from a 2 minute collect the car and down the road.

Rang them up and told them and had to take it back.

Took it back and told them ok we will look at it for you.

On collection of the car a week later wheel bearing noise gone was the N/S like i said and again i had to pay £200 for a 2nd hand hub as suposedly is a common fault, hmmmmmm. and a total repair bill that i had to pay for £450!!!

Still got a knocking noise from the front (where they done the suspension)

Still got ABS.PCM light coming on which i took the matter in to my own hands and turned out to be MAF sensor and again a cost of £200 out of my pocket.

and im £450 down but a total repair's of £2000+

Being a Porsche specialist it all seemed to be guess work with them, and i still cant get over they changed the O/S wheel bearing must of taken it for a test drive as the noise was there clear as day, but still told me the car was all fixed and ready to collect.

I might not have explained things to well but overal, i had a Porsche with good brakes, creaky suspension and ABS light on, to having a repair bill of £2000 + and now got knocking suspension, terrible brakes and still ABS light on dash.

:?: :x

Are you in South Wales?
I am in Bristol, but my parents are in Pembroke and I had looked at D9 as my Dad gets all his servicing done in S Wales and it always seems to be a better quality of service in the dealers he uses.

Tell me about it.

Been using Chris Denning sports cars now and cant fault the guy.

Nice genuine guy that is looking out for the Porsche owners.

D9 Autotech ltd south wales

Recently had a full engine rebuild carried out to my 997 carrera S 3.8, by D9 auto tech ltd south wales, & must say the work was to the highest standard & might i add the best price i could find for a full set of new liners after shopping round all the independent porsche specialists who carry out this type of work.We were given free pickup & delivery & car came back with a free mot thrown in with some jobs carried out free of charge & also fully valeted.
So not sure why the bad press here for works done because i can only but sing their praises for my pride & joy being rejuvenated back to its clean smoke free condition with a 2 year guarantee also for the work !!
So many thanks to all the lads at D9, really appreciate your help & will be back in the spring for annual service etc !!

Best Regards Don Coops :worship: :D :D

Can't comment about D9 but I can comment about Chris Denning ....
1st class service and honest.
My father in law worked at OPC Cardiff and Chris was one of his mechanics a long time ago.
When I was looking for my 996 he contacted him and lots of friendly advice was given, once bought I took to Chris and will be using him for anything that needs doing.
I have to say I'm not linked to him - my father in law knew him and everything he has done for me was 1st class and reasonable.

Chris is top man and has worked on my 996 for the last couple of years... Wouldn't take it anywhere else

Would he be alright with air cooled? Need someone more local to me as slogging back to London for servicing is now a pita.

I can second all reports of Chris Denning, he gave me advice when I was looking for a 996, PPI'd a car which failed miserably and I rejected. I found another car in the South West and he recommended I speak to a former work colleague who works for Cameron Sports cars in Bath who did another PPI, this time with better results. He even took the time to look over the report of the car I bought and we had a long chat, he's that kind of guy.
He's done a bit of work on the car since, lowtemp thermostat and antifreeze plus he arranged for an MOT back in January, I'll be going back whenever needed. He works on all Porsches, air cooled and modern.

I have seen more air cooled cars in Chris's workshop than watercooled. There are not many people you can safely recommend but Chris is one you can.

+ another for Chris Denning , i dont know him but chatted to him on the phone about a targa roof problem he had .. he seems to know his stuff as a 5 min conversation turned into about 35 mins .. it was a pleasure :)
