Very pleased with service from Dove House

Whilst not 911 related I run a 986S for my wife for summer use. Its a lovely car we have owned for six years and has only done 25k.

With such low usage I tend to service it every two years and its generally been very reliable. However its just had the third such service and its the third venue I've taken it to. We don't have any specialists close by.

The first was Paragon but that was because I dropped it in when picking up my GT3 from them so it saved me a train journey. They did a good job and I was pleased but its not practical to drive down there for a service.

Two years ago it was a well known Indy who many rave about. I was not pleased, they charged me to replace suspension components to solve a knocking noise at the front, it didn't cure it and their wash technique was not very good. I kicked myself about that as I normally say don't wash it.

When we first used the car this year it had a running fault, very lumpy idle and a CEL. I'd not had time to sort anything out but got it booked in to Dove House for a full service, plugs, brake fluid etc and asked them to resolve the knocking noise.

The latter wasn't straight forward and it took them a while longer to resolve, however they charged a very fair price and have cured the problem. The running fault seems to have cleared up just by running for a bit longer.

I'm really impressed, they could have charged me significantly more for both of these things. Great service and very good communication whilst dealing with the problem.

Many of us on here use Dove House, and are very happy with everything they do. :thumb:

Another thumbs up for Dove House from me, ive used them in the past and will do again in the future as they really seem to know what they are doing.

Another definite thumbs up for Dove House from me. They've just fitted a new window regulator for me and the price of the parts was even less than I could of bought it myself from the internet. The labour charge was very reasonable and the car was cleaned to perfection when I picked it back up again.

Well done to Dove House

another vote for dove house - service was second to none

and what was the knocking noise please?

Probably best to speak to Dove House, for two reasons I didn't go into all the details with them. I don't have time.

Secondly I think it would be extremely unfair of me to benefit from work they did to diagnose an unusual problem and then post it on the internet.

I will say it wasn't the common droplinks and it wasn't the bottom arms.

I merely wanted to know out of interest and curiosity, its called responding to a thread, I don't own this model car, dont have a knocking, and wasn't looking for a free repair diagnosis.

I am not interested now.

funny people on here.

Come on, thats not really fair. I run my own business I know what its like to have people pick your brains and not pay you a penny. I think its entirely reasonable what I've said. Whether you were interested or not if I trot it out here then its not really fair to DH to give away details.

Suffice to say they have a done a good job for me and if someone else wants similar work I can recommend them.

Not funny at all, its called treating people as you would like to be treated.

Thats very true and i can see your point .. people phoneing up for advise , waisting your time and not paying for it .. it costs money at the end of the day.

On the other hand i give advise here for free , i am a proffesional and i like to help , if someone posts a sound clip i can normally tell them whats wrong so not posting your answer is mute as i will , people saying what has fixed their cars in posts here helps other people .. if no one did it then there would be little interest here or people posting as many posts are of people asking for help .

For my own part i can pretty much guess at what was causeing the noise although a sound clip makes my life a little easier lol .

Lots of people are mearly interested or want to have an idear how much its going to cost them .

So i guess i can see both points of view .. i dont take sides although i do like a discussion .

IMHO you are both right and you are both wrong .........

why make 1 enemy when you can make 2 :D

Demort, I understand exactly what you are saying and if it was my own profession and time I would be willing to give it away. Its not though and as such its not mine to give.

As to the cost, it was £227.50, very reasonable. Better than the other garage charging me many times that and just doing it by rote.

I don't see any enemies here :)

Fred
