4.2 supercharged Range Rover

I've not long had the RR and had the same mess on with new rules for changing the plates, I think in total it took over a week to take off the previous owners plate, we then got a v5 with the original dvla plate, once we received that back it was probably another week to have my wife's plate put on it, but you cannot transfer the plate from one vehicle to another, it has to be taken off the old vehicle, go on retention, then be allocated to the new car, just another way to take some money from the great British public!!

Picking it up this morning! Plate change has gone through and it shows on DVLA now as my plate so good to go, I,ll report on views after drive home and fiddled once on drive, less hope I don't tip it over on a bend, it's not a Porsche must remember that. :D

Good luck Stucart, I'm excited for you.
Agree re the fast cornering, I sometimes forget myself and go a little bit too fast in our old Rangie.

Same applies when you race people at the lights - sorry did I just say that

Update:- 2 weeks of ownership and I'm loving it (so much not driven the 997!). Spent the first week detailing and addressing some little jobs, Porsche OCD has kicked in, wheels have been off, cleaned polished inner rims, clay mitted it loads of polish, fed the leather, had rear bumper off and replaced loom to pdc sensors ( common RR fault apparently) managed get 18-23 mpg if don't use too much throttle so quite happy.
Could never see the attraction of RR's but I do now, driving is so relaxed and view of road brilliant, nighttime is good with active head lights!
Need get Porsche out this weekend now and frighten myself again. :D

There's just something about range rovers and land rovers....We needed a seven seater and I tried to persuade Mrs Sponge a classic old County station wagon was the way to go :thumb: 5 k max👍
Finished up spending 38k on a new baby Discovery Sport, but have to say it's a little cracker and proper economical  I'd love a Range Rover mind!

Great aren't they!?

We have the TDV8 but its a tremendous bit of kit. Found out recently that the a/c didnt work though. Quick look and noticed the condenser was shot.

To change it is a bit of a mare - the whole front end has to come off

I took that pic 4 hours into the disassembly once I'd got to the condenser. Turned out the europarts had sent me the condenser for an evoque and it didn't fit! :pc:

A week later I had the time to do it again after I'd got the proper condenser. Because the bolts were unseized (and I knew what I was doing the 2nd time), I had the whole thing done in 50 minutes, plus the re-gas.

Very well engineered bits of kit, everything is so much bigger (in terms of nuts and bolts) than with Porsches. Much more agricultural.

EDIT - I've no idea why this site rotates your photos for you :x

I really like Range Rovers and I must say I have half an eye on one but I just love my '84 90. :D

and just to say I have never owned a car that is so universally liked.I get the thumbs up and smiles whenever I am out driving.

If everyone drove a land rover there would be no such thing as road rage.

My hats off to you mechanics, im more of a bricks and mortar man, plus don't have a workshop or garage.

Pretty sure that a lot of the jobs on the Range are a body off.

Mine had turbos replaced and that was body off job.

The good thing is that there are plenty of indies about and parts are cheap compared to porker bits.

Yes,it has flipped the pic Ragpicker, thought it looked odd, had to put my bonnet into "recovery position" get battery off the other day, decided swap it for Bosch S5 sooner than later, ended up standing on engine to get new one in, two man job like 997. Has your RR got rear washer, got switch position ( push wiper stalk away against Spring) but cannot see any washer jet at rear, doesn't work either??

So one month of ownership and got the RR up to my standard, had problems with a clunk on front nearside so took it local LR specialist, had 4 rear suspension links changed, new front control arm and ball joint fi.tted, now she glides over ruts and bumps! £571 inc VAT Cheap compared to Porsche prices!!
Clay mitted, polished, leather cleaned and protected, LED's fitted inside, all front bulbs changed to ice white match the Zenons, rear PDC loom fitted, all good now. Really happy now, different drive altogether than 911 but I love it. :D
