I used it on my 996 cab and it worked well.

Question is, would a new Porsche Boxster already have a waterproof coating rendering this treatment unnecessary or would it still be a good idea to give it a coat next time I clean the car.

caveat: when it stops flipping raining :x
 
Poor some water on it and see how it disperses it. If you don't have water beads running off it, give it a coat of proofer.
