Hi Ladies and Gentlemen from Cape Town, South Afica.

I have (had) what I thought was a 3.0L 4 speed '78 retro fitted with a 964 style front and rear bumpers (sacriledge to some, I know).

It seems that along the way the original motor made way (for what I think might a 3.3 lump) Is there any way I can find out from an engine number?? The local concessionaires WON'T even help as VIN and Engine Numbers do not correlate and will not supply parts as they only work on VIN's.

If I can accurately identify the motor type then I need to source some intake side "gaskets/seals" as the old girl is sucking air and won't run cleanly..

Any help/advice will be grately received.

according to the Patrick Paternie Porsche 911 red book
then number & engine no are both from a L series august 77- July 78 produced car 930 Turbo

Thank you..

More digging needed..as "perhaps" later model plenum/intake fitted (looks more like 3.3 model than early 3.0 )
