DIY Adjustable Rear Toe Arms

Following on from my DIY alignment thread - very pleased with the results but I am left with the rear toe out of where I want the alignment to be.

Options are:-

1. Replace the inner bush on the lower arm with an eccentric bush - not really wanting to do that since the bottom arms are brand new!.

2. Purchase and fit some 'off the shelf' adjustable rear toe arms - lots on the market - RSS, Rennin, Designtek, Elephant Racing to name a few of the better known one's. Circa £400 for 2 after a bit of shopping around....

3. Porsche actually do them for the Cup cars but they are not cheap!.

The other option is to knock some together myself......

Parcel delivered today from McGill Motorsports with 90% of what I need - couple of stuff still en-route from other sources.

Cost will end up just less than £80 for the whole lot.

Will post a photo and story of the install when it gets done in a few days.

Just for an experiment ? or track use ?

The rod ends don`t look to be the best quality, although they do have the benefit of grease nipples.

To get my rear suspension set up as it should be = no track use TBH.

Once this is all sorted I will probably go to higher quality joints - I do have rubber boots for them BTW, just not in the picture.
 
It was more about the brass bushings, I used them on a race car once.....admittedly an off road racer...but they had a short life, plus the housing is fairly soft when compared to top quality items.

If it does what you need they can always be upgraded at a later date :thumb:

Those are some nasty rod ends, I used to get less than 1000 miles out of that type on my Mini when used a a track control arm. 28 years ago I ended up paying over £80 for a pair of Ampep ones, which lasted for the life of the car! Buy the best ones you can Chris, would hate to see the consequences of a broken toe link on your car.
 
Quick update.....

After struggling big time and spending what seemed hours on the phone and e-mailing I finally managed to make some sense out the last piece of this particular jigsaw!.

The quickest and best proven solution to the hub end of mounting these arms was to purchase the correct Porsche Motorsport parts. Managed to find and download the Porsche 997 Cup parts lists and drawings and track down the part numbers.

Quick phone call to my OPC and order placed - parts had to come from the Motorsports Division in Germany - collected this morning ready to fit and finish of the rear geo. Slightly eye watering price but sometimes needs must!.

Footnote - to the 'specialist' who quoted me double what I paid for these you will never ever get a penny worth of my business because of that. To the other 'specialist' it is polite and good business to have the courtesy to reply to enquiries even if if is a short 'sorry we cannot help you' .
