Has anyone purchased from the above? They seem to have a pretty good name etc. Just wondering if PPI is still necessary or are they on the same level as 911virgin for example?

They have a very good reputation and tend to favour "original" cars but unless they are offering a warranty then a PPI is always a good idea, plus you can use it to negotiate on price if it flags up anything.

I bought there a couple of years ago Did an inspection Helped negotiate on price and got them to do a few jobs. So best of both worlds

In my area was looking at them, for some work maybe on my car last year clutch.

Got in touch, never got a reply tried a few times. Went to SCS Devon very helpful prices fair as well. Also they answer the phone and emails?

Wouldn't be on my list of people to buy a Porsche from.
I did ring him and spoke to him about his methodology for sourcing a car for me. Not real value-add in my opinion over my own search, negotiating skills and commissioning my own independent PPI.

Oh, I don't think he is a Porsche trained technician either - so quite how that makes him an expert, I'm not sure. I suspect third party contractors will be used along the way in his methodology from sourcing to prepping a car for you.

BUT, he has loads of satisfied customers and supplies cars for people all over the UK and beyond. So to those customers, he must be providing real value-add. After all he advertises a publication on how to buy a Porsche and how he follows a rigorous process to spot a crash-damaged wreck that he'd spot but perhaps you the private punter may not. So he must have good eyesight if he has written about that!

You can PM if you want me to share more thoughts to your question.

Friend purchased a 964 targa from them 2 years ago. Came with a new mot. When he got it home he found all 4 tyres were cracked down to the canvas, were not N rated and were over 10 years old. The cigar lighter did not work so in the event of a puncture could not use compressor. Tow eye also missing . Needed a new battery and issues with leaking pipe from power steering pipe. He sold it back to them after3 months. He should have asked for the purchase price back but did not. He just wanted rid. Draw your own conclusions!

Yup! Par for the course.

And he calls himself a Porsche Specialist and the warranty issued in the example I know was a next-to-useless third party one from Warranty Wise and the car that was supposed to have been serviced had items that were not replaced as service items to Porsche schedule and an oil leak was disguised by steam cleaning but was visible at the source of the leak.

But anyone can get it wrong sometimes. He has loads of satisfied customers as testament to his business model that works and is real value-add.

Flying Scotsman bought from WC.

Yep - bought my 993 Targa from WC, without a PPI. Car was in generally pretty good shape, but I took it along to my local indy (Dove House) for a post purchase inspection. They confirmed the car was sound except for front shockers - one had been replaced (surely always in pairs) and incorrectly fitted at that. WC took the car back and fixed this problem FOC - but it left me with some doubts about them. Their workshop facilities look pretty basic - although somehow they manage to undertake major restorations - and there is no evidence that anyone there is Porsche-trained.

I wouldn't exclude them as a possible source, but I would certainly advise a PPI if you are thinking of buying from them.

I used them for my daughters Boxster PPI, seemed ok I them took the car into SCS Porsche Honiton who picked a couple of items that WC had over looked ,WC slack or SCS over zealous probably the former but I wound not disregard WC
cheers hope it helps
