Hi everyone,
My odometer recently stopped working. After alot of forum surfing I dismantled the speedo to find the tiny gear in the odometer drive had a tooth missing and had gone all rubbery. So I changed the gear and the pod. Put it all back together and all was well for a few hundred Km's then I noticed the numbers turning over too slowly, then it stopped completely then after 10 minutes it started working correctly again. For the rest of the day it stopped and started about four times. During all of this the speedo was working correctly.
Today I took it apart again and to my surprise everything still looks like new. The odometer numbers turn easily and the motor turns like a motor with strong magnets.
In all the stuff I have read nobody mentions an intermittent motor fault. Also am I right in thinking that the motor only runs the odometer or does it run the speedo too? As you can see I am pretty lost as to what to do next.
Any ideas please.
Thanks
Neil
