Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the original 911 Targa, Porsche has confirmed the current 991 911 GTS will receive the same treatment. With Porsche's impressive automatic stowing electric Targa top, the 911 receives the usual GTS treatment to wear bespoke details and trim.

The new Targa 4wd GTS variant of the Porsche 911 GTS has been revealed at the Detroit motor show, the 991 Generation 911 Targa 4 GTS.

What is it?

The Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS has bee added to the Porsche 911 Targa range to celebrate 50 years of the open-top sports car.

GTS versions of the standard coupe and cabriolet 911s are already offered, and are designed to bridge the gap between the standard Carrera models and the more potent Turbo and GT3 versions.

What engines can I choose from?

There is only one engine offered in the 911 Targa 4 GTS. It is a naturally-aspirated 3.8-litre six-cylinder direct injection petrol engine, which produces 430bhp and 324lb ft of torque.

Gearbox options include a seven-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The model is four-wheel drive as standard.

Despite the extra performance over the 911 Targa 4S on which the new car is based, the economy remains the same at 30.7mpg.

How much equipment does it come with?

On the standard spec list are black centre locking 20-inch alloy wheels from the 911 Turbo S, new front sports seats with more substantial lateral support, a standard Sport Chrono package, and Alcantara trim.

How much will it cost?

The model has been priced from £104,385. It goes on sale in March.

With that script it's lucky it's got the wide body as standard.

could we not have some Targa_50 ones first ?

not sure the GTS treatment works on the Targa - have to try one to be certain :D
