Hey there

Any ideas what this is? Loose in drivers side near the loom that presumably goes into ECU housing.

The hole where presumably a cable goes but the one on the left doesn't penetrate all the way through to meet (I think)

Thanks
Chris

This topic turns up about ten times per year. We all have these parts flying around in the frunk.

Cheers,

Ah, thanks

I was just using your guide by the way... Checking battery drain.
Apparently I have none. Zero. Nada. That can't be right can it?
This is from cold engine ,just turning ignition onto full for 5 seconds, and then off.
The first one (second on this website) is with range at 10A so peaks were at 6A approx when I turned ignition on (without starting). The second set of peaks in first photo is operating a bit longer.
The second one (first one this website) was just after and then waited for meter to settle to 0.1A range *.
Could not use mA as I didn't believe true zero... meter might not use the 10A socket when set to that mode..

I could get it to show a few mA if I blipped alarm fob. Or opened a door to turn on the light.

The only thing I would add is that during the test the normal "whir" of the solenoid etc in car wasn't a steady one. I believe the meter might be pulsing when taking measurements. But the dash lights were all present and correct.

Next weekend I'll try again if I can change range of the 10A socket
... Looks like it picks 10A or 0.1A range based on recent history so maybe I just need to wait and let the higher current items fall off to get 0.01A?.... looking for that 25mA u mentioned.

Chris

Edit

Looking at the pictures again I was measuring AC current.
I will need to change mode to DC and redo measurement.

Ha! I literally found that in my frunk one week ago. Figured I'd never find out what it was. Now I know!!
