Review has been validated.

John Hawkins of Specialist Cars of Malton are a disgrace to the Porsche brand, the Motor Industry, UK Business, <please can everyone add any more words that I may have missed>

How many more scams do you have out there?
How many more unsuspecting people are you conning?

What SCOM is actively doing is pumping their Google Reviews with historic and fake 5 stars reviews, along the lines of the Gmund Scam. Unfortunately ranks a 5 star free coffee review no different to a £230k car scam.

For all those with Google Accounts and can review their business, we need to support the truth and advise the public, the true nature of this business that SCOM are running.

As fraud goes, that's as simple as it gets. No complicated instruments here, or structure. Just bare faced tomfuckery. It sounds like this ***** may even get a kick out of the whole thing, as well as the cash.

Looking at the prices of 993 turbos and you stumped up half, presumably you are out of pocket to the tune of approx £50k? I wonder how many others he's pulled that scam on? Presumably you can't be the only one?

I'm assuming the car doesn't even exist. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but did you just hand over the money without seeing the car you were supposedly investing in?

Really honest owners who in business clearly can afford smashing quick cars get sucked in by glorified horse traders.

This site along with members who post make a difference.

I ask a question

Why would you even consider going half share on a Porsche you have never touched ?

Baffles me

As I said in the alert, SCoM did a very good and substantial job on another car of mine. I spoke with him and at the time believed that he was one of the better traders. I was also happy that the car was at a sensible price. Either he sold the car to someone else OR I would buy the other half at an agreed price. With that I was content. What shook me was that when I tried to buy the half he wouldn't agree and the excuses started to pour in. It was these excuses that really caused the alarm bells to ring. Had there been a problem, I would have waited. Even, dare I say accept my initial investment back (without profit). No such offer was forthcoming. And the silence deafening....Subsequently I found out that I was far from alone hence the warning to others to be very careful. I will deal with my mess, but would prefer that others don't get caught like me.

I have updated my google review with a link to this thread :thumb:

Good luck to the OP, obviously his priority will be getting his money back which is a civil matter but hopefully it will lead to a criminal report to the police and a criminal conviction and jail time to these scumbags :judge:

This must be a clear case of criminal fraud and at some point the police can;t ignore it any longer :nooo:

I used SCOM last year to restore my 1985 911 Targa Super Sport. They did a fantastic job and I was very happy with the result.

Have you had your 1985 911 Targa Super Sport inspected to make sure they have actually done the work on the car to what you believe is the required standard.

Also if they supplied the car to you, probably worth checking it is a real Super Sport since they have form in both areas.

I think you can take some solice in the fact that you are not alone in this, however I'd have to agree with Marky in that alarm bells would have been sounding when a dealer offered offered me half of his profit, I'd have personally given him him the Gypsies Warning and highlighted to him the consequences of any misdemeanour occurring anywhere along the transaction.

I'd have slept outside in one of his cars And used another as a latrine ! Walked in the office every day and sat in His chair and personally answered his phone warning potential customers Of his activity as a businessman.

At the end of the week I would have taken him to a secluded spot and showed him a hole in the ground ! Left him there to make his own way home and then returned to his house where I would start removing structural material critical to the houses integrity !

Quite how any one has the patience to go down the legal route whilst being fleeced by a rogue is beyond my rationale ? Sitting waiting for money which never arrives, a more pro active route should be sought !

How much does he owe you and how much can I have if I get back it back for you ?

You'd hope that one day he comes across someone who uses the old methods to fix things. The harsh reality is the law doesn't protect the honest person in the UK, and scrotes like this just keep getting away with it, time and time again :nooo:

OP without suggesting you send the boys round to beat the crap out of him, I'm sure there are other people you can send round to get a positive result in a different way, I could be wrong but I'd say taking the legal route your chances (may be) virtually zero.

Some of the recent positive reviews have very questionable grammar on Google - you'd almost question their validity!

Somehow I missed this thread until now. I'm so sorry to read of your plight.

Thank you for publicising this unfortunate event.

I know how easy it is to be sucked in to a deal like you describe. I have often found myself in similar situation when someone you like or for whom you feel a certain sympathy is looking for some help or assistance. Even when your head tells you something isn't quite right it is quite human and understandable to still assist.

I'm sure this was a difficult story for you to tell but I salute you for doing so. I hope somehow you get some satisfaction down the road.
