Afternoon all,

Recently decided at 39 years old I was going to have a midlife crisis, and buy myself a slightly early 40th Birthday present. I hadn't really got a plan together yet kept coming back to 996.2 GT3 - I remember reading EVO magazine, along with the others, when they were launched. Pin up car as you would say.

I came across a good example at a specialist down South, and strangely enough had a meeting in the area so arranged to go and see the car and talk through ownership etc. The Specialist was great, answered all the questions, pointed me in the right direction where I would find the previous owner - whom I have spoken to in depth

We did a deal and I arranged the money, the car needed a service and an MOT which was all arranged, agreeing a convenient pic update once the formalities had been sorted.

All I can say is, what a fantastic piece of engineering she is. From the pin sharp steering, the throttle response, the brakes, the suspension etc.

I managed to sneak a track day in to get to know her a bit better and have enjoyed a few spirited drives in Yorkshire. [/i]

:welcome: to 911uk,

Pretty car

What cars have you had before?

Lovely..

She looks like the 9e car?

Thanks Guys - I must admit to this being my first "proper" car, kind of bypassed the M3, C63 scenarios and went full send into a GT3. Have done some club leel rallying in the past so not unfazed by faster motors.

Spec wise this is the specification she has from the factory

My local dealer, and also Dean at DMB Collection have commented that looking at the spec it may have been the highest spec'd cars available.

We had done a few journeys around Yorkshire in her when time and the weather permitted, also been to one of two meets locally for coffee and cake.

I spotted a fairly local trackday and after checking what cover I had decided fairly last minute to attend, down at Blyton Park - the home of Ginetta cars test track.

Car handled beautifully, after a few pointers from the previous owner on pressures etc. She is running Cup tyres, so was thankful when the sun shone on the day of the trackday.

She performed faultlessly throughout the day, but was a potential target for a few people on track, but we let them by. I didn't want to get her peppered in stone chips as she is all original paint, and no PPF.

After the track day it was time for rear tyres as we have a few trips to our house in France planned, and the new wife has begrudgingly said yes to us going in the GT3. She would prefer a 992 GTS having sat in one at our local dealership.

She isn't really into cars, and kind of doesn't mind what I do, so she is a keeper. She drives a grey Audi "offroader" - that describes how much she likes cars

I have however 8 years of CMA payments left to pay to the ex wife, who doesn't, and cant know about this car!

The tyre depth reading and body cameras at the dealerships are fantastic, measuring tread depth incredibly accurately

the fastest GT3 colour :thumb:

Speed yellow, best colour. Good to know that your current wife is a keeper.

Lovely 996.2 GT3. I have always like speed yellow, much nicer & more interesting than the more recent racing yellow IMO. Glad you managed to get wife approval, after a short trip in my 996.2 GT3 my wife has refused to go in it again!

Great car in the correct GT3 colours! :worship:
