Correct way to adjust door window frame ?

Does anyone know a correct procedure for adjusting the window frame that is NOT trial and error ?

To be clear, I know how to move it around and exactly which bolt does what.

I'm just wondering how do you figure out if you did it correctly without driving the car around every single time listening for wind noise. I saw on one thread on pelican someone suggested that you should be able to slide a piece of paper from the inside out in every spot between the frame and chassis. That definitely did not work for me and made the wind noise worse.

I am assuming there is some way to get the frame aligned perfectly correctly in place without testing because I don't think the factory was doing trial and error after assembly...

for the avoidance of doubt: door itself is perfectly aligned and seals are new. Just asking about correct procedure for window frame, not how to combat wind noise

I've never done this, but if I were I'd be trying to get the gap between the door and roof line consistent all the way along. Then I'd rub some silicone (or Shin Etsu) grease along the new rubber then close the door and ensure the transfer of grease was even along where it contacts the door frame, then test and adjust as necessary.

Have a look for Garage Time on YouTube, he did a video about door alignment on his older 911 probably a year or so ago, worth a watch.

thanks, that's a pretty good idea about the grease. will try it.

love garage time

Old school way on Escorts Minis.

Glass down.

Open door ,place knee against door card and pull the frame towards you.

Wind window back up.

Result no noise but a hair line crack at the bottom of the window frame.

No I would not do it to a 993 either.

Horse.
