Hello, I am replacing a dented floor panel and the new one from Porsche comes primed in black where as the interior is in a british leyland shade of light green (think Allegro, Morris Ital, 70s Jag XJ6. It probably isn't far off the dreadful green they paint the Defender heritage models.

Does anyone know a paintcode or near match. I suspect it is also the same as the 996 /997 from some of the pictures I have seen.

Random picture from ebay below

Thanks!

The light brown / green paint in the photo is the 'cathodic electrocoat primer' after baking in the factory.

OEM 'cathodic electrocoat' is pigmented grey but normally discolours to this browny green colour after baking at 190 °C (effective metal temperature, EMT) for 20 minutes. The air temperature required to achieve this is quite a bit hotter. The paint surface gets a bit singed / burnt to this colour.

This high temperature is necessary to transform the heat hardening steel used in the bodyshell.

Areas on the bodyshell not normally seen or covered with other materials are not normally painted further.

The smaller areas of grey around the seam sealant are painted with primer surfacer which is baked at 165 °C (EMT) for a further 20 minutes.

The BL colour you mention is either Harvest Gold (BLVC 19) or Limeflower (BLVC 20)

See the chart for 1970 - 1972 in the link.

Alternatively, you could take the removed, dented panel to a paint supplier who could 'measure' the exact colour and supply an aerosol or paint to that colour.

What an impressively comprehensive answer!
